What we do

How a sump-pump system is evaluated

Standing water does not always mean the pump itself failed. The basin, float, check valve, power, discharge route, and the source of the water all need to be considered as one system.

STEP 01

Identify the water and test the system

The technician distinguishes groundwater from a plumbing leak, then checks basin level, pump activation, power, float movement, check-valve behavior, and discharge flow.

STEP 02

Correct the failed component or layout

The solution may be a pump, switch, check valve, blocked discharge, basin change, reroute, or a new system sized for the observed inflow and lift.

STEP 03

Run a real operating test

Water is introduced or the float is activated so the pump starts, evacuates the basin, and shuts off correctly without cycling the same water back.

How do I know whether my sump pump is working?
The basin, power, float, check valve, discharge, and alarm or backup should be inspected and tested before wet weather. A pump that hums, cycles without moving water, trips a breaker, runs continuously, or has not operated in a long time needs closer evaluation.
Does my crawlspace need a sump pump or better drainage?
A pump removes water that reaches a collection point, but it does not correct every grading, groundwater, foundation-drain, roof-drain, plumbing-leak, or discharge problem. The water source and path should be identified before adding a pump to an unsuitable basin.
Is a battery backup sump pump worth installing?
