Repair first, replace only when it earns it

A water heater that quits is not automatically a water heater that needs replacing. Failed heating elements, thermostats, thermocouples, gas control valves, and pilot or ignition problems are all repairable, usually in a single visit. One customer called at 2 pm with a dead unit and Cameron and Jason had the house back in hot water by that evening. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.

The honest rule we use: if the unit is under about 8 years old and the failure is a single part, repair is usually the right money. Past 10 years, with rust in the water, moisture at the base, or a second breakdown, replacement starts to win. We tell you which side of that line you are on before any work starts, with the price upfront. True Plumbing is licensed in Washington (<a href='https://secure.lni.wa.gov/verify/' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>TRUEPPC781K6</a>) and Oregon (<a href='https://search.ccb.state.or.us/search/' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>CCB #246792</a>) and has been doing this across Clark County since 2017.

What we repair

  • No hot water. Elements, thermostats, breakers on electric units.
  • Gas units. Thermocouples, pilots, igniters, gas control valves.
  • Tankless faults. Error codes, ignition failures, flow sensor issues.
  • Leaks at fittings. Supply connections, T&P valves, drain valves.
  • Rumbling or popping. Sediment buildup flushed before it kills the tank.
  • Pressure problems. Expansion tanks checked and replaced when failed.

Call for a repair visit if…

  • Water is lukewarm or runs out faster than it used to
  • The pilot will not stay lit, or the unit shows an error code
  • The tank rumbles, pops, or hisses when heating
  • There is moisture at fittings but not pooling at the base

Water heater went down around 2 pm. Cameron and Jason came out around 3:30 pm. They got us back in hot water the same day, and they had to remove and replace the unit.

They did a thorough inspection to determine the cause of why my water heater was leaking. The price was fair, I got quotes from other plumbers, and they did a great job communicating.

Jason squeezed me in near the end of the day on a Friday and stayed late to get my water heater fixed. Prompt, communicated well, and saved my weekend.

Water heater repair questions

How fast can you get here?
We run same-day repair calls across Vancouver and Clark County and answer 24/7. If you have no hot water, say so when you call and we will treat it with the urgency it deserves.
Is it worth repairing, or should I just replace it?
Under about 8 years old with a single failed part, repair usually wins. Past 10 years, with rust, leaks, or repeat failures, replacement is usually the better spend. We will tell you honestly which one you are looking at, and if it is a replacement, the visit turns into a free install estimate.
My water heater is leaking. Repair or emergency?
Moisture at a fitting or valve is often repairable. Water pooling at the base of the tank usually means the tank itself has failed, and that is a replacement. Either way, shut off the cold supply to the unit and call, we will walk you through it.
