Check the complete model and serial number, then contact Ariston if your boiler is included. CPSC's October 29, 2026 recall, number 27-051, covers specified NTI FTVN and TFTN gas boilers and HTP EFTU gas boilers. The agency directs owners of recalled units to stop using them and arrange a free repair by a certified technician.
If a CO alarm sounds, get everyone outside, call 911 from outdoors, and stay out until responders say it is safe. If you smell gas, leave the area and call 911 or your gas utility from a safe location. Leave before gathering model numbers.
A wall-hung boiler may also supply hot water to your taps. NTI's original FTVN150C specification shows a domestic-hot-water heat exchanger; FTVN150C is one of the recalled models. If one appliance supplies both heat and hot water, tell Ariston that when arranging the repair.
Start with the outside rating plate
CPSC locates the model and serial information on the rating plate on the boiler's left side. Read it only if you can approach safely. A purchase invoice or installer's equipment record may help you gather the details without moving equipment. Do not open the cabinet to identify the unit.
Write down the full model, including every suffix, and photograph the complete serial number. Compare both with the official notice. These are the model groups to look for:
| Brand / series | Models listed by CPSC |
|---|---|
| NTI FTVN | FTVN150, FTVN150C, FTVN199, FTVN199C |
| NTI TFTN | TFTN150, TFTN199 |
| HTP EFTU | EFTU-150WBN, EFTU-150WCN, EFTU-199WBN, EFTU-199WCN |
The model is the first check. Use CPSC's complete serial-range table for the second, or ask Ariston to confirm your unit. A similar cabinet, an incomplete serial number, or the brand alone cannot settle whether this recall applies.
Keep the letters and suffixes. Match the listed model.
Compare the entire identifier with the official range. Ask Ariston if unclear.
Stop use and arrange the certified-technician repair through Ariston.

Keep reset and repair work with the technician
NTI's notice explains that a condensate dish can crack during delayed ignition, allowing unburned gas to collect inside the cabinet. Ignition can then detach the front cover. The identified hazards include fire, carbon monoxide poisoning and impact injuries.
NTI specifically tells owners not to clear lockouts. Do not keep resetting a recalled boiler to recover heat or hot water, and do not attempt the repair yourself. Its notice requires evaluation by a certified technician before the boiler returns to operation.
The manufacturer's repair includes a controller with revised software, inspection of the condensate dish, and a combustion test before return to operation. When booking, ask the repair provider to confirm that the visit covers this recall and to provide a record of the completed work.
Call Ariston with the equipment details
CPSC lists 800-688-2575, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern, and VCexchanger@ariston.com. In Vancouver, those listed hours are 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific. Have the model, serial number, installation address and your usual service provider's details ready. If you rent, give the equipment information to the property manager as well.
Ask Ariston who will carry out the recall repair, how to manage the loss of heating or hot water, and what completion documentation to keep. NTI says it can help owners find a contractor. A routine service visit or an earlier repair record deserves a specific check against this recall.
Check alarms while the repair is arranged
The stop-use instruction remains the starting point. CPSC also says owners who must continue using a boiler while awaiting repair should have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Discuss your situation directly with Ariston and follow its instructions. An alarm is not a substitute for the recall repair.
CDC explains that carbon monoxide has no color or odor and recommends battery-operated or battery-backup CO detectors near every sleeping area. Check the detector according to its manufacturer's instructions. Smell alone cannot establish that a gas appliance is safe.
For a separate household plumbing issue, use True Plumbing's water-heater repair page or contact the team with your address and equipment type to confirm available work. Questions about the recall
Does an NTI or HTP brand name mean my boiler is recalled?
No. Compare the complete model and serial number with CPSC recall 27-051. It covers specified NTI FTVN and TFTN and HTP EFTU models within listed serial ranges. Ask Ariston if the label is unclear.
Can I reset a recalled NTI boiler to restore heat or hot water?
NTI says not to clear lockouts or restart the recalled boiler yourself. A certified technician must evaluate it before it returns to operation. Contact Ariston for the recall repair.
Can a boiler recall affect water at the taps?
Some boilers also make domestic hot water. NTI's original FTVN150C specification includes a domestic-hot-water heat exchanger, and that model appears in the recall. Give Ariston your exact model and ask how to manage the interruption.
Who arranges the recall repair?
Contact Ariston at 800-688-2575 or VCexchanger@ariston.com. CPSC lists a free repair by a certified technician. Confirm the affected serial number and the repair arrangements with Ariston.
